Last Minute Geschenke

I'm back! My last oral exam was yesterday and I'm now a so-called graduate :) So from now on there will be more time for blogging. Christmas is just around the corner and you need a quick present, that doesn't take a lot of time to make, but still looks cute and special? So read on and see two gift ideas, which cost almost nothing and are made within half an hour.

The idea is very simple: Take your old T-shirt, cut and braid it. The idea comes from DaWanda-Blog, where Tanja from the DaWanda-Shop tandan shows in a video, how to transform an old shirt into a new necklace. However I thought the necklace was a bit chunky, so I decided to cut the strings a bit thinner, so the necklace looks a lot more delicate. But see for yourself.

Cutting...

Stretch the single strings and put them together as seen on the pictures

Pull the strings together until it looks like this

Divide the strings in parts of three and braid them tightly together

Braid as long as necessary. Cut out a little string from the shirt to secure the ends.

Alle Schlaufen bis auf eine abschneiden.
Cut all strings except one.

To neat the ends, cut out a piece from the shirt and wrap and glue it around the end. For the necklace you need another tshirt piece and place it between the existing strings in order to link the two ends of your necklace. For further instructions watch the video at DaWanda, even though it is in German you will understand everything :)

Honestly I do not have a seperate instruction for this brooch. But I got the idea from fellowfellow. Instead of metal-paper I used leather leftovers for the bottom and textile leftovers for the rest.

And now, have fun making some quick presents. Do you have any other great ideas for DIY-presents, than don't hesitate to post them here.
